Subject: Introduction: Betty Martini - OPERATION MISSION POSSIBLE,
Aviation , Division
Dear Dr. Watson:
John Linnell, Mission Possible Canada, has been in touch with me and
mentioned your name. I thought you might appreciate a copy of this post
which was an introduction to a pilot list, listing a few of the aviation
magazines that have warned pilots off (of aspartame). If you would like
a pilot packet I am most happy to mail it to you.
Since blanket approval has been given to aspartame, it has become even
more of a hazard to aviation. The FAA says they can't do anything until
the FDA does something. Regretably, our Fatal Drugs Allowed folks here,
the FDA, are simply the handmaiden of the chemical and pharmaceutical
industry, and particularly loyal to the manufacturer, Monsanto.
The GAO, in fact, was doing an investigation on the incestuous
relationship of Monsanto and the FDA with regard to the bovine growth
hormone. The New York Times, Marian Burros was about to do a big story
and expose how dangerous it is after extensive research. The next thing
that happened was that she was visited by attorneys for Monsanto. The
story became "lukewarm", one that Monsanto would approve of. Then her son
got a position with the GAO, and the investigation was squelched. I'll
send you a press release that explains other details.
We must do something about this tragic situation as pilots are having
grand mal seizures in the cockpits of commercial airliners, and one pilot
who crashed his plane in a tree said he simply couldn't make a decision,
he was on aspartame. Memory loss, incidently, is one of the most common
symptoms and Dr. H. J. Roberts has already written a book DEFENSE AGAINST
ALZHEIMRS DISEASE explaining how aspartame is escalating this disease. It
also blinds. The U. S. Air Force and U. S. Navy have already warned their
pilots off in their journals, one quoted in this post.
Any help you could give us would be appreciated. Also, meet Patricia,
Mission Possible Australia, and Chris Wheeler, who is helping in New
Zealand. One pilot is about to set up a web page on aviation and the
aspartame issue.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Betty Martini, Founder
Mission Possible Worldwide (warning the world off the deadly neurotoxin,
aspartame)
I am the Founder of Mission Possible which is a worldwide effort to warn
the world about aspartame marketed as NutraSweet/Equal/Spoonful and no
telling what since the patent has expired. It is a poison masquerading as
a sweetener.
It is a great hazard to aviation because it is a seizure triggering drug.
It destroys the optic nerve and the nervous system.
On our warning bulletin distributed all over the world we quote FLYING
SAFETY which is the official journal of the U.S. Air Force. They closed
down as did the Navy for 48 hours some years ago and then wrote in their
journals warning all pilots off this drug. This is what we quote from
the May, 1992 issue:
"In pregnancy the effects of aspartame can be passed directly on to the
fetus, even in very small doses. Some people have suffered aspartame
related disorders with doses as small as that carried in a single stick
of chewing gum. This could mean a pilot who drinks diet sodas is more
susceptible to flicker vertigo, or to flicker-induced epileptic
activity. It also means that all pilots are potential victims of sudden
memory loss, dizziness during instrument flight and gradual loss of vision."
Here are some other aviation magazines that have warned pilots about
aspartame:
June 15, 1988 The Aviation Consumer--SafeGuard
Letters to the Editor: Aug 1, SEpt 1, 1988

Dr. H. J. Roberts (world expert on aspartame) wrote in the October 14,
1989 issue of The Palm Beach Post: "Several recent plane accidents
underscore the need for further inquiry into a heretofore neglected cause
of pilot and driver error: confusion and aberrant behavior caused by
products containing aspartame (NutraSweet). For example, did the
co-pilot who inadvertently hit the disengage button before the recent US
Air jet accident, and then acted 'irrationally' ingest an aspartame diet
soda or coffee sweetened with an aspartame tabletop sweetener? I have
repeatedly pointed out these and related problems in many scientific
articles and addresses over the past three years. They are based on
personal observations and a nationwide study. My report on 157 persons
with aspartame-induced confusion and memory loss was published last
month. The subjects included trained pilots who developed these and
other neurologic psychiatric features .. including convulsions and visual
problems."
Since this time Dr. Roberts has written a new book called DEFENSE AGAINST
ALZHEIMERS DISEASE and explains how the two amino acids in aspartame,
phenylalanine and aspartic acid, are neurotoxic when isolated from the
other amino acids in protein. They go past the blood brain barrier and
deteriorate the neurons of the brain. He says in his opinion this is
esalating Alzheimers Disease. ( 1 800 -814 -9800 - how to get this book
and his tapes and other publications). Memory loss is one of the most
common symptoms of aspartame. One hospice nurse called because she said
30 year old people are now getting Alzheimers!
Aspartame also contains methanol (wood alcohol) which converts to
formaldehyde and then formic acid (ant sting poison). It also does this
in the retina of the eye.
You may remember the American Airliner that fell out of the sky in
December of 1994. According to an Atlanta Journal Constitution article
dated April 14, 1995 this was due to pilot error - tunnel vision. This
is another problem with aspartame. Here it is reported in ASPARTAME;
METHANOL AND THE PUBLIC HEALTH by Dr. Woodrow Monte (Journal Of Applied
Nutrition, Volume 36, Number 1, 1984):
"The most characteristic signs and symptoms of methyl alcohol poisoning
in humans are the various visual disturbances which can occur without
acidosis although they unfortunately do not always appear. Some of these
symptoms are the following: misty vision, progressive contraction of
visual fields (VISION TUNNELING), mist before the eyes, blurring of
vision, and obscuration of vision."
Interestingly, this last American Airliner that crashed was reported in
the paper and said: "there was alcohol in the pilots blood but he didn't
drink"! Was it "methanol"?
After two cups of Nutrasweetened hot chocolate pilot George E Leighton
experienced blurred vision so severe he was unable to read instruments on
his panel and very narrowly avoided a tragic landing. Safely on the
ground, he related his story to the co-workers in his office. Two of
them recounted similar symptoms experienced after brief exposure to
aspartame. He claims 'this makes aspartame particularly frightening to
pilots, since in a single pilot IFR, full workload situation, partial
impairment of capability can be just as fatal as total impairment
(unconsciousness).
Leighton wrote a letter to the editor of US Flying Safety after they
printed the Aspartame Alert to all Air Force pilots. Because its long I
won't quote it all but just the end:
"Let me ask you a question. If you became aware of a component of every
Air Force aircraft which was subject to sudden, catastrophic in-flight
failure, would you simply write an innocuous 'heads up to pilots' at the
end of an obscure article in your magazine? Of course not? You would
take immediate emergency action to ground all aircraft until the
safety-of-flight item was removed. Aspartame (NutraSweet/Equal) is that
safety-of=flight item! I do not expect to see aspartame banned from the
marketplace at this time; that is an unrealistic expectation. My
immediate, personal goal, however, is to have all pilots informed of the
potential safety-of-flight hazard posed by aspartame. At least, they
could then make an informed decision whether they wished to risk their
lives and careers by playing airborne Russian roulette with
Aspartame-laced products. Of course, a more appropriate question may be
asked: "Should pilots even have this right, when other people's lives are
at stake."
So you see why I bring this information to your attention. Mission
Possible is a volunteer force and we fly packets around the world to air
traffic controls to warn pilots!
More information can be attained on the Dorway web page below my signature
including the warning flyer distributed worldwide. There is the history
of aspartame titled NUTRAPOISON written by Alex Constantine. There are
98 references and he claims the U.S. Pentagon once listed aspartame in an
inventory of prospective biochemical warfare weapons submitted to Congress.
We tell people to take the "no aspartame test" and send us their case
history. People are writing back "I can walk again" , "I can see again".
One man with MS got off aspartame, got out of his wheelchair and biked a
marathon. Methanol toxicity from aspartame mimics MS because it destroys
the nervous system. I lectured at the World Environmental Conference in
November and at the time wondered how I could convince these leaders
about this. I didn't have to. Dr. Clarice Gaylord of the EPA in her
keynote address said: "We have an epidemic of MS and lupus but we cannot
identify the toxin." I said: "Dr. Gaylord: I'm here to lecture on MS and
lupus and identify the toxin as aspartame." I gave her case history of
people diagnosed as such but whose symptoms vanished when off of aspartame.
To use the auto-responder simply put sendme help in the subject line
after you email me. Like this:
Subject: sendme help
When you get a directory you simply put sendme again in the subject line
with whatever file you want to access typed exactly as in the lefthand
side of the directory.
You can also get information on Mark Gold's web page which is:

Dr. Roberts has his publications on web at:
http://www.icanect.net/sunpress
There have been 3 Congressional hearings when aspartame was only in a few
hundred products - now its in 7000 and the patent has expired. As people
have taken the "no aspartame test" around the world, and woken up well,
operations of Mission Possible are being started in other countries and
our flyer is being translated into other languages.
I know it may be hard for you believe that our food supply has been
poisoned but its so bad people are now dying of the formaldehyde. See
"embalm or not to embalm" on the responder. Its very very serious.
Aspartame is neither a food additive or a diet product and reports explain.
We hope each of you will print out these reports and warn all pilots and
all people. Please help to keep the planes in the sky, and help
safeguard the health of our friends and loved ones, and our fellow man.
Mission Possible will be distributing information in other languages here
in Atlanta at the olympics.
